Jakarta, April 17, 2024 – The highly anticipated relocation of civil servants (ASN) to the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) has been rescheduled to September 2024, announced by Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono and Minister of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) Azwar Anas.
The decision to postpone the relocation stems from the imperative need to prioritize the utilization of housing and office facilities in the IKN for the meticulous preparations of the 79th Independence Day Ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) scheduled for August.
Minister Basuki elucidated, “The housing designated for ASN in the IKN will be utilized for the meticulous preparations of the 17th August ceremony,” during a press briefing held in Jakarta on Tuesday (16/4).
Consequently, the housing units allocated for ASN are not yet prepared for occupancy, further compounded by the shortfall in the anticipated number of available housing units. Initially, the government had planned to relocate 9,000 ASN in the inaugural phase of the IKN relocation. However, this figure has been revised downward to 6,000 ASN, with the prospect of augmentation post-completion of the residential towers.
The rescheduling of the relocation underscores the meticulous planning and logistical considerations involved in the monumental task of establishing the Nusantara Capital City. The government remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring a seamless transition for civil servants while simultaneously prioritizing the successful execution of significant national events.
