Jakarta, April 19, 2024 Indonesia made another proud achievement in the international arena by winning two awards in the 8th Huawei ICT Competition Asia-Pacific for 2023-2024. Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) won the top award (Grand Prize) in the Network Track category, demonstrating the quality of higher education in Indonesia.
This brilliant achievement did not stop there. The ITB team again won the First Prize in the Cloud Track category, showing the mastery of cloud technology by Indonesian students. This achievement is a clear proof of Indonesia’s commitment to developing young talents in the field of information and communication technology (ICT).
Not only ITB, but teams from various countries in Asia Pacific also showed their best performance in the four categories competed in, namely network, cloud, innovation, and computing track. The competition was attended by more than 6,400 students from 14 countries and regions in Asia Pacific, showing high enthusiasm for technological development in the region.
“We are proud of the achievements of the participants from Indonesia, especially ITB, who won two prestigious awards at the Huawei ICT Competition Asia-Pacific 2023-2024,” said H.E. Amb. M. I. Derry Aman, Permanent Representative of Indonesia to ASEAN and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the ASEAN Foundation.
“This achievement shows that Indonesia has outstanding young talents in the ICT field. We are committed to continuing to support the development of these young talents to become future leaders and innovators,” he added.
The Huawei ICT Competition Asia-Pacific 2023-2024 is a platform for students in Asia-Pacific to showcase their skills in ICT. The competition is also a place for students to gain new experiences and knowledge about the latest technology.
“Huawei is committed to helping develop young talents in the ICT field in Asia and the and the Pacific. Through programs like the Huawei ICT Competition, we want to provide opportunities for students to showcase their skills and prepare for the future,” said Simon Lin, President of Huawei Asia-Pacific.
The Huawei ICT Competition Asia-Pacific 2023-2024 award ceremony was held at the ASEAN National Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia, on April 18, 2024. The event was attended by ASEAN ambassadors, representatives from various international organizations, and competition participants.
