Jakarta – PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), the upstream subholding of Indonesia’s state-owned energy company Pertamina, has been awarded Gold in the Social category of the 2025 Indonesia DEI & ESG Awards (IDEAS), reflecting the company’s strategic alignment with national and regional sustainability goals.
The award was presented at the 10th PR INDONESIA Awards ceremony, recognizing KolaborArts, PHE’s flagship stakeholder engagement and sustainability program launched in 2024. Held to commemorate the company’s 17th anniversary, the initiative combined 17 internal competitions and culminated in the Upstream Run 2024, an inclusive gathering at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), involving employees, partners, and local communities.
According to Arya Dwi Paramita, Corporate Secretary of Subholding Upstream Pertamina, the award affirms PHE’s long-term strategy of integrating innovation, collaboration, and sustainability across its operational footprint. “This award reflects our collaborative spirit and commitment to driving inclusive and impactful economic and environmental programs,” she stated.
Expanding Regional ESG Practice
Beyond PHE, two other Subholding Upstream entities also earned recognition. PHE Offshore North West Java (ONWJ) won Bronze in the Environmental subcategory for its Jam Pasir (Coastal Community Empowerment) program. It successfully restored 3.62 hectares of coastal land affected by abrasion and reduced 18.3 tons of CO₂ equivalent emissions—an example of measurable environmental impact combined with grassroots economic upliftment.
Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) also received Bronze in the Social subcategory for Beasiswa Sobat Bumi Kalimantan (BSBK), a scholarship program for underprivileged students, reinforcing regional educational resilience and contributing toward Indonesia’s 2045 development vision.
The IDEAS 2025 platform highlights best practices in corporate communication aligned with DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards. This year, 46 institutions submitted 85 entries, with 35 organizations and 55 initiatives ultimately recognized.
PR INDONESIA Group CEO Asmono Wikan emphasized that “inclusive communication is the foundation of strong collaboration—especially in navigating the complexities of the digital era.”
Towards Strategic ESG Governance in Energy
As energy sectors in Asia increasingly embed ESG metrics into their operational and reputational frameworks, PHE’s model offers a case study in stakeholder-based program design that balances performance with long-term sustainability goals. The company has also committed to institutionalizing its anti-bribery management system (ISO 37001:2016), reinforcing its Zero Tolerance on Bribery policy.
By weaving social, environmental, and ethical standards into core operations, PHE and its subsidiaries signal a broader movement among Asian energy players toward more transparent, inclusive, and policy-aligned business strategies.
