Renowned for her multifaceted talents and unwavering dedication, Senator Lia Istifhama, a non-incumbent member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) from East Java, has once again been recognized for her exemplary contributions. This time, the niece of the former Governor of East Java (2019-2024) received the prestigious Indonesia Next Future Leader 2024 award from Indonesia Award Magazine.
The award ceremony, held as part of the 4.0 award trends event at Hotel Mercure Grand Mirama Surabaya on Friday, April 26, 2024, highlighted Lia Istifhama’s remarkable achievements. Known for her diverse roles, including Chairwoman of DPD Perempuan Tani HKTI East Java and Secretary of MUI East Java, Lia Istifhama has captured public attention through her extensive activities.
Beyond her involvement in various social and religious organizations, Lia Istifhama is also recognized as a prolific author, having penned motivational books such as “Berkisah Tentang Hati” (Stories of the Heart), “Resiliensi Korban Pelecehan Seksual” (Resilience of Sexual Harassment Victims), and “Membingkai Pendidikan Bangsa” (Framing National Education). Moreover, she has ventured into the music industry, releasing agricultural-themed songs that she composed herself.
Dr. Ketut Abid Halimi, S.Pd.I.M.Pd.C.Ht., Director of Research at Indonesia Award Magazine, emphasized Lia Istifhama’s indisputable track record, highlighting her ability to inspire and spearhead a mental revolution that serves as a beacon of hope for generations to come.
“Ning Lia is an incredibly inspirational figure, not only for women but also for the young generation of Indonesia,” stated the renowned motivator from Bali.
Expressing her gratitude for the award, Lia Istifhama remarked, “Alhamdulillah, thank you for the trust bestowed upon me by Indonesia Award Magazine for this significant recognition, as well as sincere gratitude to my parents, husband, children, family, friends, and all those who have played a pivotal role in my life journey.”
As is customary, Lia Istifhama, known for her prolific writing and participation in various national forums, conveyed a moral message.
“This award, God willing, serves as one of the reasons why I aspire to continue my social and political work, educating the public that life is not about outcomes but about a series of endeavors for goodness and honesty that must accompany every step we take. May this award strengthen the role of women in Indonesia,” she expressed.
Despite her striking appearance, Lia Istifhama firmly rejects the notion of beauty privilege.
“I also want to urge everyone to reject beauty privilege. Let us continue to strive and contribute to our nation. Let us appreciate the work of others as a form of service to our beloved nation and collectively support processes that bring benefits and prosperity to Indonesia,” she urged.
Lia Istifhama also pledged her commitment to strengthening honest and healthy political work.
“In conclusion, I seek your support so that through my position as a senator, I can bring pride to the people through honest, healthy political work and always provide positive education,” she concluded.
