Singapore Wins Global Recognition for Geospatial Policy Innovation

Singapore – At the Geospatial World Forum 2025, Singapore took center stage with a major international honor. The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) jointly received the Geospatial World Leadership Award in the Enabling Public Policy category, marking a milestone in policy-driven innovation.

This recognition underscores the ambition and execution of Singapore’s Geospatial Master Plan 2024–2033, a decade-long strategic vision that aims to integrate geospatial intelligence into every layer of public administration. The award celebrates how Singapore has bridged its land and maritime operations through a unified, data-driven governance approach.

Spearheaded by SLA and MPA, the Master Plan focuses on data interoperability, cross-sector collaboration, and the advancement of a digital-first economy. These efforts are laying the groundwork for smarter urban planning, port operations, transportation systems, and national security frameworks.

“Singapore’s strategy is setting a benchmark globally for how nations can harness geospatial infrastructure to drive transformation across sectors,” said one of the award organizers. “It’s not just about technology—it’s about foresight and institutional alignment.”

The country’s journey toward becoming a global geospatial hub is closely tied to its broader goals in smart nation development, sustainability, and AI integration. By embedding geospatial insights into policymaking, Singapore is leading the way in how modern cities and nations can navigate complex governance challenges through spatial intelligence.

This accolade adds to Singapore’s growing portfolio of international leadership in public innovation, reinforcing its position at the forefront of digital policy transformation in Asia and beyond.
